MEDITERRANEAN STYLE LAMB BURGERS


Lamb, although already full of flavours, can withstand the addition of seasonings without losing its own taste. Lamb goes so well with a lot of herbs and is so delicious when made into Mediterranean burgers. Just add fire and it turns into a perfect meal.


These patties are so juicy, tender and flavoursome. I am about to decide that it tastes better than beef burgers...any second now. The amount of herbs added are just right to create a balanced taste without losing the real taste of the meat. An egg and a tiny bit of breadcrumbs helps to hold the juices in. It is a lot tastier than you can ever imagine.

Ol' mayo, ketchup and mustard won't do for burgers this tasty. Feta cheese dressing is the best complement for the Mediterranean flavourings of the patties. They tasted so great together! Do try this out before the summer is over.



Ingredients:


600 gms. minced lamb
1 egg
1 small red onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 tbsp. chopped fresh mint
1 tbsp. of chopped fresh coriander leaves
1/2 tsp. of chopped fresh thyme (or 1/4 dried thyme)
1 tsp. fine salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tsp. sugar
2 tbsps. of dry breadcrumbs

Instructions:

Put all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl and blend together. 


Divide into four portions and shape into patties.


Cook on a pre-heated grill or barbecue to your desired level of doneness. 



Serve on buns with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and feta cheese dressing (recipe here).
